Matt Rutledge
Director of Operations and Instruction
Matt was born and raised in the Orlando area where he participated in every sport available to him. Eventually, he decided to focus on football and soccer. His passion for sports and his devotion to academia eventually landed him a prestigious award from the Downtown Athletic Club for being a two-sport star while maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA. He played football at Jacksonville University before graduating from UCF. Matt wasn’t ready to give up on football, so he decided to coach and teach at the high school level. He took a job at Hagerty High School as an 11th grade English teacher and a Defensive Line coach. He worked his way up to becoming the Assistant Athletic Director and also took on the responsibility of becoming the head Weightlifting coach. During 2015, he made the move to Orange County Public Schools to teach at Timber Creek High School. It is at this time that he was introduced to Jillian and Lane 4 Swim School.
Matt has been a lead instructor for Jillian each summer since 2016, and has not looked back since. Although he never participated in organized swimming, his mom and dad instilled a love for the water through surfing, scuba diving, and boating. He continues that legacy with his own family – he is married to Nicole and together they have four daughters: Marlowe, Adliegh, Hensley, and Decklyn. As Director of Operations and Instruction for Lane 4 Swim School he looks forward to continuing to work with families while also sharing his love of the water with them.
